STEAM Summer Program

Our 3-week summer program is designed to provide secondary school students with the opportunity to build upon existing knowledge and skills. Guided by specialist educators, each week brings a fascinating topic where students will dive deep into the subject matter. Students are strongly encouraged to take part in the full 3-weeks in order to maximise the benefits of the program. Open to Laurus and non-Laurus students.

Summer School Hours:

9:00 - 16:00

Week 1 at a glance

Students will unlock the mysteries of bones and forensic science and investigate how experts decipher clues from skeletal evidence. They'll explore bone formation processes and unravel the intricate mechanisms behind skeletal strength and the complexities of bone disease. Additionally, students will delve into the mechanisms of fracture repair, with hands-on opportunities in 3D-printing to craft customized orthopedic solutions, showcasing innovation in the field of medical technology.

Week 2 at a glance

From Astrology to Astronomy, our knowledge of the cosmos is advancing at light speed! To date, more than 5,000 exoplanets have been discovered around distant star systems. Let`s explore these exotic planets, how they were discovered, and the implications for extraterrestrial life beyond earth.

Week 3 at a glance

Dive into the fascinating world of biomechanics, exploring how living organisms use mechanical principles for locomotion, survival and adaptation. Students will investigate the motion of living things and also learn how these natural mechanisms inspire modern technology and engineering. By the end of the week, students will have a deep understanding of the incredible ways that biology and mechanics intersect in the natural world.

TUITION & FEES

  • ¥93,000 / week

  • ¥99,000 / week

  • Entrance Fee: ¥5,500 *First time non-member only

    Extended fee: ¥1,000 / 30min (8:30-10:00)

    Lunch, Materials and Insurance are included.

  • If a parent/guardian wishes to cancel or change the course after registration, a handling fee of 1,000 yen will be charged.

    After the registration deadline, kicdly note that course changes and refunds will not be made.

INFORMATION FOR ENROLLED STUDENTS

  • Water bottle, cutlery (chopsticks etc), indoor shoes.

    • For students with allergies, please bring your own lunch as we are unable to provide lunch for students with allergies during seasonal events.

    • Furthermore, during seasonal events we are unable to accept students requiring the use of an EpiPen due to the lack of medical staff available.

    • For non-Laurus students, please bring a copy of your Insurance card & free medical care certificates and a photo of your child (to be uploaded through the application form).

    • Tours of schools and facilities must be reserved in advance. Please contact the primary school in advance if you wish to visit.

    • International participants are required to purchase optional travel insurance. If you do not have travel insurance and become ill or injured while attending our seasonal event, you will be responsible for your own medical expenses.
