Performance Day Rehearsal: From Practice to Applause

Performance Day 2024 is fast approaching and promises to be a delightful occasion where our youngest learners can shine. As we gear up for this special event, we reflect and recognise that it is about far more than the on-stage performance—it is a wonderful journey of learning, discovery and fun.

The Value of Preparation

In the weeks leading up to Performance Day, our students have been busy practicing songs, dances and other performances. But they’re not just getting ready for the big day—they're acquiring lifelong skills. Through these activities, children build their English language proficiency, practice collaboration, follow instructions, build discipline and learn to express themselves with confidence.

Through guided practice, children also experience the satisfaction of working towards a goal, navigating challenges, and celebrating their achievements. Each step they take helps to build their self-esteem and fosters an early appreciation for effort and perseverance.

“Performance Day is an invaluable opportunity for children to develop important life skills in a supportive and encouraging environment. Standing before an audience, they learn to manage nerves and present themselves with poise, an essential foundation for effective communication,” explains Travis Wright, Kindergarten Head Teacher at Laurus International School.

It nurtures resilience, as they come to understand that mistakes are part of learning and growth. These experiences are not only enriching but also vital in shaping well-rounded, confident individuals.

Balancing Learning with Joy

At Laurus International School we believe that the preparation for Performance Day should be as enjoyable as the event itself. Rehearsals are also fun moments among teachers and peers, and by fostering a sense of play we help children feel at ease while encouraging their natural curiosity and creativity.

The success of Performance Day would not be possible without the tireless dedication and expertise of our teaching staff.

They have worked diligently to guide and support the children through each step of the preparation process, offering encouragement, patience, and positive energy at every turn. Their ability to balance structure with joy has ensured learning is both meaningful and memorable, and that every child feels confident and valued.  Thank you, teachers!

A Foundation for the Future

Performance Day is a celebration of our students’ hard work, creativity, and growth. It provides an opportunity to recognise their achievements and to support them as they take a step forward in their developmental journey. We look forward to sharing this special event among our community of parents, students and teachers.
