International Secondary School Subject Teacher

Job Description

Laurus International School of Science requires enthusiastic and experienced secondary school teachers for Subject Teacher positions. Candidates must be native English speakers with a background in international school education. Applicants should have a B.A / B.Sc or higher and teaching certification or B.Ed with the appropriate credential. Preference will be given to teachers currently in Japan with more than three years experience. Japanese language ability is not a requirement.

Requirements BA. BS BEd or MA, MS, PhD
Teaching licence
Experience teaching at international schools (Primary School and Lower Secondary experience preferred)
Contract type Full-time
Working hours Monday–Friday
8:30-17:30 with a one-hour break
(Various shift times available at 8 hrs work /1 hr break)
40 hours per week
Salary ¥400,000 – ¥500,000 per month (Negotiable depending on experience and qualifications)
Holidays Saturday and Sunday off
National/public holidays off
Annual paid leave: 9 weeks of school holidays, 5 paid flexible holidays, 5 paid sick days

Music and Music Technology Teacher

Position Overview:

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Music and Music Technology Teacher to join our dynamic faculty. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in both traditional music education and modern music technology, with a commitment to inspiring and engaging students from diverse cultural backgrounds. The role involves teaching music theory, performance, and the use of music technology, including recording equipment and other relevant software.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and deliver a comprehensive music curriculum for students of various age groups and skill levels.
Teach music theory, history, and performance, incorporating a wide range of musical genres and traditions.
Integrate music technology into the curriculum, teaching students how to use recording equipment and music production software.
Organize and lead school concerts, recitals, and other musical events.
Collaborate with other faculty members to create interdisciplinary learning experiences.
Provide individualized instruction and support to students, fostering a love for music and encouraging their creative expression.
Stay current with developments in music education and technology, incorporating new methods and tools into the classroom.

Requirements Bachelor's degree in Music Education, Music Technology, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
Teaching certification or relevant teaching experience in an international school setting.
Proficiency in using music technology, including DAWs (e.g., Logic Pro, Ableton Live), MIDI, and recording equipment.
Strong musicianship skills, with proficiency in at least one musical instrument.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural and diverse environment.
Passion for music and a commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Fluency in English.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience living and working in an international setting.
Experience with Cambridge International Curriculum.
